Why did we start this company
TheWesCape was born out of necessity for a sturdy, comfortable and quick-to-set-up sleeping tent – a mobile home in the trunk of your car – for a family camping trip in Botswana in the early 90’s. The first TheWesCape home was created by bending regular tent poles for a stronger structure, being able to withstand the natural elements of African weather.
The second generation of tent builders continued the legacy of the original tents from the 70’s. The first inflatable tent was introduced in the 90’s: comfortable in usage and space, fast and easy to set up and break down, “the Dome” was created. TheWesCape remains a family business of camping enthusiasts.
